Abstract
Anuran populations are declining largely due to anthropogenic factors, Lithobates berlandieri is a case of this for Mexico; being in special protection (Pr) according to NOM-059-SEMARNAT-2010. This research consisted of characterizing a population of L. berlandieri and its habitat quality in two water bodies in an ejido (common land) in Parras, Coahuila, México. To estimate the population size, the Lincoln-Petersen index was used, in addition, normal development tables were used to determine growth stages. In the habitat, soil, water, and sediment were analyzed in accordance with NOM-021-RECNAT-2000 and a threat assessment for ponds was carried out. The estimate of population size was 240 adult frogs. There is the presence of egg clutches, larvae, juveniles, and adults. Regarding the quality of the habitat, it was concluded that it has a medium threat level, due to the presence of solid waste, livestock overload, recreational activities and vegetation cutting.
