Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission proposal is a Microsoft Word file, following the Chicago Deusto/a and APA Citation Guidelines.
  • It should be understood that, throughout the review process, it is forbidden for the contribution to follow a parallel review process in another journal.
  • The author(s) declares not to violate any ethical issues (such as plagiarism or self-plagiarism, fictitious authorship, data manipulation, duplicate publication, fragmentary publication or unauthorized copying of third party material).

Author Guidelines

Requirements for the submission of original articles

Articles submitted for possible publication in Open Journal should take into account that the following documentation must be submitted using the Open Journal Systems platform. Applications submitted by other means will not be accepted:

Requirements for submission of originals

Submit textual content in word file, without password (PDF files are not suitable for the editorial process).
If images are submitted, these electronic files must be in jpg format, with at least 300 dpi resolution. It is essential that graphs, tables and other material used be sent separately as complementary files in excel format, and not as images.
The author(s) must have the rights to reproduce any complementary material, be it graphics, images, photographs, artwork, designs, etc.
If all requirements are fulfilled, the submitted text will be sent to Editorial Review.

Originality
Articles must be original and unpublished, so they must not have been previously published in whole or in part in any virtual or physical format. After its appearance in Abierta, it may be freely published in other media, but the author must clarify that it was originally published here. Each writer assumes responsibility for his or her views and opinions. Authors must guarantee that they have written the text in its entirety; any manuscript that incurs in plagiarism will not be considered.

About the authors
A maximum of three authors per article will be allowed. The list of authors should include only those who have contributed intellectually to the development of the work (not in data collection).

Authors ID: It is essential that each and every one of the authors provide their ORCID number, for more information go to https://orcid.org/.

Articles should not include in the body, footnotes or properties of the document any information that reveals their identity, in order to ensure an anonymous evaluation by the academic peers who will make the opinion.

Length
The complete article should be between 5,000 and 7,000 words, including bibliography and annexes, if any. It is suggested to include annexes only if it is really necessary, and in any case, they should be few and brief.

Structure
- Title (no more than 15 words; however, short titles are suggested) in both Spanish and English.
- Author's name, institutional affiliation and e-mail address.
- Summary of content in Spanish and English (between 100 and 150 words). It should make clear the topic, objective, methodology and main statements of the manuscript.
- Five key words in Spanish and English.
- Introduction (should include the problem statement, contextualization, objectives, theoretical approach and methodology).
- Development (should include the results or the central argumentative body of the text).
- Conclusions (discussion of results and recommendations, if any).
- Complete bibliography.
- Annexes (if any).

Presentation format
The text should have Arial 11 font, 1½ pts. spacing between lines and justified alignment. Page margins should be 2.5 cm on each side. Page size should be A4. Line spacing should be one and a half spaces. There should be no more than one line break between paragraphs. Macros and ornamental bullets should not be used. Headers and footers should not be used.

Both in the body of the text (from the first page to the end of the reference list) and in the title page (title and abstracts), any information that would allow identification of the authors should be omitted.

Citation and bibliography format
Texts should be written in APA format (Seventh edition).

Language
The journal publishes material in Spanish, with the respective abstracts and keywords in Spanish and English.

Images
In the case of using images such as graphs, photographs and illustrations, they must be original and in high quality for printing. If they are not original, the source of origin must be cited, making sure to have the necessary permissions for this purpose. It will be the author's responsibility to comply with this point.

Rights and commitments
Authors must include a signed letter in which they guarantee: 1) that the material is completely their own, 2) that it is unpublished, 3) that they will not submit it to any other media before knowing the decision of the journal, and 4) that they cede to Revista Abierta the rights of the first publication of the article.

Evaluation
The editorial committee reserves the right to review each article, send it to referees to guarantee its quality and, if necessary, suggest modifications. Likewise, it may reject those that do not meet the required conditions. The receipt of articles does not imply any obligation to publish them or any commitment regarding the date of their appearance.

Submissions that do not fully comply with the guidelines will be rejected in editorial review and will not be eligible for academic peer review.
