La última mención conocida sobre el manuscrito del que me ocuparé es la de Gabriel Saldívar y Elisa Osorio. El villancico Como es príncipe jurado que Manuel de Sumaya compuso para los maitines de san Pedro, en 1715, fue transcrito y publicado por primera vez en la Historia de la música en México; era el año de 1934. Por más de ocho décadas, esa fue la única referencia de la existencia de su música. Pero hoy tenemos otro tipo de evidencia: el manuscrito musical completo se encontró recientemente en la Biblioteca Nacional de México
